I took Graphic Design Synthesis with Douglass Scott, the staple class for Graphic Design upperclassman. Here, I learned how to bring everything I was taught from previous courses and learned how to be cohesive when creating or working with a brand.
I chose the Nikko Shrines and Temples located in Nikko, Japan, as I had visited the site in the past while studying abroad. There were elements from the beautiful Toshogu Shrine that I incorporated (the famous "See no Evil, Speak no Evil, Say no Evil" monkeys, the lesser known sparrows) into my final works.
Within this project, I was able to create not only digitally, but fabricate the book by soaking a beautiful veneer and tenderly bending it before laser-etching the sparrow mark to further instill the idea of the woody, mountainous area Nikko includes.
